Alex Hoffman is a certified planner by the American Planning Association (AICP) and the Congress of New Urbanism (CNU-A). With more than 15 years of experience, he has worked in cities across the country, representing clients in the public and private sectors as well as non-profits.
His experiences range from advising on policy, strategy, pre-development entitlements, and design to data analysis, mining and visualization. Currently, he manages the Capital Planning Division for the City of El Paso, Texas. Here, he established the City Design Lab, an interdisciplinary group of designers, planners and architects focusing on the intersectionality of planning, design, and data.
He is recognized as a thought-leader within the Planning community, serving as the Vice Chair for the American Planning Association’s City Planning and Management Division. Additionally, he has performed numerous speaking engagements at the local, state and national level in coordination with the American Planning Association and has been published by the APA’s Planning Advisory Service. Alex is a graduate from the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning as well from The Ohio State University’s Knowlton School of Architecture.
